Needs A Violin For Sale?
September 25, 2007
Violins are like sedentary people who, upon beginning to work out, are stiff but eventually loosen up. Violins are hard to judge by vision alone without a great deal of experience. Violins are no exception to this rule and it is particularly noticeable with the lower priced student violins. Although cheap, modern student violins are far superior to those made 100 or more years ago.
Despite their delicate construction, violins are fairly robust and generally require very little upkeep. Most violins are expertly made and feature a very rich, warm, focused tone. Older violins are often made of better quality wood than modern violins. Unfortunately not all violins are looked after as well as they should be and it is not unusual to find old violins with cracks on the top plate and sometimes on the back too.
